This practical hand on experience course provides the necessary skills to be able to use a Linux or Unix system. It does not matter if you are a new user to Linux, a user moving to Linux from another operating system or planning to install and manage a Linux system, it is essential to be able to use the command line to interact with the system. For beginners this course will take you from novice to intermediate user level. For system administrators this course will give you the necessary skills to successfully and safely use the Linux and Unix command line. As well as covering the basic commands and text editors the course covers some more advanced topics and provides an essential background to anyone using the system as a user, a developer or an administrator. The course is generic and is applicable to all versions of Linux and Unix. Those wishing to further their knowledge should look to attend the Linux Administration course and the Linux and Unix Shell Programming course.


This course is intended for all users of Linux or Unix It will also be a useful prerequisite course for anyone who will be administering a system or who will be developing applications in the Linux or Unix environment.
